Design and capabilities
The Patria 6x6, also designated XA-300, is a Finnish armoured personnel carrier and the base platform for the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System programme, launched in 2020. It measures 7.5 metres long, 2.9 metres wide, and 2.5 metres high at the hull, with a maximum combat weight of 24,000 kilograms including up to 8,500 kilograms of payload. A 294-kilowatt five-cylinder diesel engine gives it a top road speed above 100 km/h and a range beyond 700 kilometres; an optional amphibious kit allows water speeds of roughly 6 to 8 km/h. Base protection meets STANAG 4569 Level 2 against ballistic and mine threats, upgradable to Level 4 on the Heavy APC variant. The platform carries two crew and up to ten dismounted troops, and is built in role-specific configurations including a command-and-control vehicle, an engineer and reconnaissance-group transport, a fire-control vehicle, and a 120-millimetre Patria NEMO mortar carrier capable of ten rounds a minute out to 10 kilometres. Reported armament options range from a pintle-mounted 7.62-millimetre machine gun up to the Kongsberg PROTECTOR RS4 remote weapon station, already confirmed for more than 300 CAVS-programme vehicles. A counter-drone variant has been described by Patria as an area under discussion with interested partners, but was not a confirmed, in-development configuration as of the most recent reporting reviewed for this entry.
Operational history
CAVS-programme participants as of mid-2026 include Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the United Kingdom, with vehicles also in service in Ukraine. Germany received its first five vehicles in February 2026 under a planned programme of up to 876 platforms, worth roughly €2 billion, intended to replace its ageing TPz Fuchs fleet. In May 2026, Lithuania's State Defence Council announced its intention to procure 936 Patria 6x6 vehicles, a larger single order than any other CAVS participant to date. On 25 June 2026, Patria signed a memorandum of understanding with Lithuanian company KOVO Armor, the first of a planned network of local industrial partners for technology transfer and local production tied to that order; the memorandum is a preliminary step toward negotiation, not a finalised production contract.

Like GOBLIN, the Patria 6x6 is a ground-combat-support platform without a confirmed airspace or counter-drone role, and its relevance to AirVeto is contextual rather than direct: Lithuania's order sits within the eastern-flank NATO buildup along the same border AirVeto's airborne incident tracking covers.
